HYDERABAD: A 52-year-old electrician who is said to have an addiction towards pornography was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl in Vikarabad’s Dharur on Sunday evening.
Pargi police said that the accused, who is the victim’s neighbour, on Sunday evening lured the girl by offering to give her a mobile phone. When the minor went to the accused’s house, he allegedly assaulted her sexually. He is said to have shown the minor pornographic videos while committing the offence.
The victim later returned to her house in tears. When asked by her mother, the girl narrated the details of the assault. The girl’s family approached the local police to lodge a complaint. Investigators took the accused into custody on Sunday and arrested him on Monday under Section-376 (Rape) of the IPC and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. “The accused is a divorcee and stays alone. He has a habit of watching porn. He has been arrested,’’ Pargi police told TOI.
