Ludhiana: Seeking action against railways employees who overcharge from passengers while issuing tickets or violate norms may now be easy. This was experienced by a city-based resident who after being overcharged vent his ire on microblogging site and received an immediate response from the railway minister’s office.
Taking cognizance of one of the complaints registered by a local passenger against the booking staff deputed at general ticket booking counters of the city for overcharging, Indian Railways directed the division railway manager of Ferozepur Division to act against such employees.
Anil Kumar posted his complaint on Twitter against the booking staff for arbitrary charging on railway ticket from passengers.
Speaking to TOI, Anil said, “On Sunday evening, I went to the ticket counter to get a general ticket to Gonda district in Jansadharan Express. The booking clerk asked for Rs 250 against the print rate of Rs 235 from me. I took up the matter on Twitter and posted a message tagging railways minister Piyush Goyal’s office as well Indian Railways Sewa to make them aware about the violation of railway norms.” Ludhiana railway station director Abhinav Singla said the railways has taken the matter of overcharging by booking clerk quite seriously. “Appropriate action would be taken against guilty employees,” he said.
