Mr Junior Cho has been appointed as the CEO of Zurich General Insurance Malaysia (ZGIMB) with effect from 15 July 2019 and succeeds Mr David Fike who has now assumed a regional role within Zurich Insurance Group. In his new role, Mr Cho will drive the insurer's business strategies for its general insurance business in Malaysia and will report to its board of directors.
Considered a seasoned industry leader, Mr Cho has over 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sector. He was most recently ZGIMB senior vice president and head of market management, a role he has held since he joined the insurer in September 2016.
Over the last three years, he is said to have played a pivotal role in growing Zurich Malaysia’s general business segment as well as leading the general insurance and general takaful sales through the development of strategic business propositions, strengthening of distribution channels and implementation of digital initiatives.
Prior to that, he was group CEO at Tune Protect Group where he was responsible for overseeing its general insurance businesses in Malaysia, Thailand and the Middle East.
Over the span of his career, Mr Cho has also held various strategic and senior management roles in business strategy, sales, marketing, distribution, customer management, operations and technology in multinational organisations such as Metlife International, Allianz Life and Cigna International.
He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Columbia University and started his career with Accenture in New York before joining the insurance industry.
