Bob Hawke's daughter Rosslyn Dillon has hired an expert legal team in a bid to wrestle her father's multi-million estate from his widow Blanche d'Alpuget.

The 58-year-old has hired Sydney's family law specialists Tiyce & Lawyers to challenge the former prime minister's will.

Friends have said Ms Dillon has been 'fragile' since her father's death.

Mr Hawke left Ms d'Alpuget the estate in his will, which includes proceeds of the sale of their $15million Northbridge property in Sydney's lower north shore.

Ms Dillon's battle was sparked by tense phone call with the Mr Hawke's wife, following his death in May, The New Daily reported.

Ms Dillon and her siblings Susan Pieters-Hawke and Stephen Hawke received $750,000 in the wake of their father's death.

The six-figure sum was also paid out to Ms d'Alpuget's son, Louis Pratt.

It was agreed the children would each receive the payment from Ms d'Alpuget.

If the issue regarding the will cannot be resolved privately the matter will be taken to New South Wales Supreme Court.

The longer serving Labor leader died at his Sydney home on May 16 aged 89.

Mr Hawke divorced his first wife, Hazel, and married Ms d'Alpuget in 1995.
