Julia Roberts Had the Best Reaction to Her Emmys Snub

The nominations for the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced, and while some nominations were as predictable as the sunrise (Game of Thrones dominated, Fosse/Verdon made a splash, and When They See Us got its much deserved attention), there were still some shocking moments. One of those was Julia Roberts not receiving a nomination for her work on Amazon's Homecoming.

Over the last few years, major movie stars have been dipping their toes into limited series waters thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, and the expectation by most seems to be that their star power alone can swing them a nomination, if not also an award. This time around though, there was no love for Roberts or for Homecoming, which received a lukewarm reception from critics.

Roberts wasn't phased by the snub, however. Upon getting a notification that she'd headlined USA Today's "Biggest Snubs" article, Roberts took a screenshot of the notification on her phone and posted it to Instagram with the following caption: " Well, I'm in exceptional company at least."

Seeing as the other stars mentioned in the notification were George Clooney and Emma Stone, she's pretty on the money with that one.

Regardless of whether you feel Roberts (or Clooney and Stone for that matter) was cheated of a well-deserved nomination for her work, it's nice to see stars shrug off a snub with such a good attitude and a quick wit -- especially one as monumental as Roberts. It's no fun being left out in the cold, but Roberts and her fellow mega-stars can go cry about it at the Oscars next year.

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air live Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Fox.
