Blood reports say 4-yr-old Vadodara girl died due to Chandipura virus

VADODARA: The blood reports of the four-year-old girl, who had passed away on June 30 in Vadodara, have confirmed that she died due to Chandipura virus, the first such death here this season.
The girl was admitted to a hospital with suspected viral encephalitis symptoms.
The district health officials, who had sent the girl’s blood samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, received the reports on Saturday.
The girl had fallen ill on June 28 after which she was admitted to Gotri Medical College for two days.

According to health officials, the girl was feeling better but late on June 30, she passed away.
Her blood samples were taken on June 28 and were sent for tests. “We received the report on July 13,” said chief district health officer Dr Uday Tilawat.
