Rajkot: Man arrested for chopping wife’s ears, nose

Victim kept changing her own statement to save her husband
RAJKOT: The case of a woman’s ears and nose being chopped off in Khambhala village near Rajkot last week took a curious turn when police investigation revealed that the brutality was committed by her husband and not paramour that she had alleged earlier.
The victim Vanita had first named a fictitious character Salim as the accused, but police found that nobody with such name linked with her. On July 11, a day after the crime, she named Amarsinh Parmar with whom she had an extra-marital affair, as the culprit. But detailed probe revealed that Parmar, who is a distant relative of the woman, was not present at the crime scene.
Police investigation also found that the Vanita had concocted the story about the robbery of Rs 2 lakh cash by the fictional character Saleem.
“When we got tough, Vanita spilled the beans and revealed that her husband Keshu Vaghela had committed the crime,” said J V Vadhiya, sub-inspector with Padadhari police station.

Vaghela, who was arrested on Sunday, had chopped off his wife’s sensory organs with a knife as a punishment for having an extra-marital affair with Parmar.
During interrogation, Vaghela told the cops that as he was angry with Vanita after he came to know about her affair with Parmar and decided to teach her a lesson.
