After wooing critics and viewers in the web series Breathe, Amit Sadh will be seen in his debut web film Barot House. The suspense drama, which also stars Manjari Fadnnis, has been adapted from a real-life experience which was researched by senior crime journalist Praful Shah.

The Kai Po Che actor says, “I am playing the role of Amit Barot, the man of the house. It’s a story about a family, whose lives turn upside down and how they survive through it,” he says, adding that the film premieres on August 7 on Zee5.

Amit finds working on real life stories and characters extremely exciting. “We make real-life stories because the impact on the audience is much more. As an actor, you have to work harder and make sure your performance looks authentic so that you do justice to the character and story,” he says.

According to sources from the set, for one scene, the actor did not drink water for two days. And he did not want anyone to know about this. “I don’t know why this news was leaked. I had to approach the scene in this particular manner as there was no other way,” he says, adding, “Everybody has their own method of acting. Everyone is trying to be different. As far as I am concerned, I like becoming the character, both physically and mentally. That’s the part I like about cinema — I can become any character I want.”

The actor feels that he is lucky because his audiences have loved and accepted the characters he has played so far. “I wish to continue in the same manner,” he says.

Barot House also stars three child artists. Ask him how challenging it is to shoot a dark subject with children and he replies, “The child artists have been working for sometime now and they are professionals. The famous ad filmmaker Bug Bhargava, who has shot many ads with children, has directed this film. He has a great bond with kids and he knew how to shoot with them in a healthy environment. Even the crew members and other actors were very conscious. I also made sure that in-between shots, I had some fun and played with them.”

Moreover, he adds that he has learnt a lot from all the child artists. “They are so talented,” he says.

As for working on the digital platform, the actor who has worked in both television and films, says that the internet is the biggest platform in world. “As an actor, it shouldn’t bother you to work on the digital platform because popular actors like Akshay sir, Mahershala Ali and many others are working on this medium,” he says, adding, “For me, the story matters.”

He believes that an actor must be concerned with engaging with the audience. “We want our projects to reach as many people as possible and entertain them as much as possible,”  he says.

In spite of being appreciated for his acting, Amit hasn’t been getting meaty roles in films. Does this disappoint him? “I was part of the biggest film of 2018 – Gold. For the past one year, I have been busy finishing Breathe, in which I play a cop, and India Strike - 10 Day, in which I am playing Major Tango. In terms of budget, these projects are bigger than films. I am working every day, so why should I be disappointed?” says the actor who also did a cameo in the recently released Super 30.
