GURUGRAM: A retired Armyman was honey-trapped by a 34-year-old woman who allegedly blackmailed him with his videos which “showed him in objectionable position” and forced him to register a flat and a plot on Dwarka Expressway in her name. Police said the woman also threatened him that he would make the videos viral on social media if he didn’t give her one more flat in new sector. She was arrested on Sunday and sent to one-day police custody.
According to police, the woman approached the complainant — a resident of sector 10A — seeking his help in securing admission for her child in central school. When he expressed his inability, she requested him to help her secure admission for her son in a private school. The boy, however, couldn’t join the school owing to high fees. But the woman kept on calling the 64-year-old man and invited him to her home. After her repeated requests, he went to her flat. When he reached there, the woman offered him soft drink spiked with sedative and recorded his video in “objectionable” position in a bid to extort him.
The accused, Poonam, was introduced to him by the driver of his younger brother in the second week of April. Poonam claimed she requested the complainant to help her secure admission as he was working with the central school after he retired from the Army.
“I expressed my inability to help her. Later, I asked her to come with her husband. I told her I can talk to some private schools. She said her husband had abandoned her around 12 years ago, and she is a single mother,” said the complainant, adding that though he talked to some private schools, the child didn’t join owing to high fee. “But she again kept on asking me to visit her home,” he said.
He went to her home after her repeated requests. “When I visited her flat in Sector 89, she offered me soft drink spiked with sedative. I fell unconscious on the bed,” he said. He gained conscious after two hours and returned home.
After 10 days, Poonam called him to her flat and informed him she had recorded everything (clips showing him in objectionable position) during his last visit. She then asked him to pay her Rs 10,000 every month. He succumbed to her tactic. Poonam again called him after two weeks and met again at her flat. She asked him to transfer some of his properties in her name. She allegedly threatened him that she would show the videos to his family members. He then returned home after seeking some time. On June 30, Poonam again threatened him to make the videos viral. On July 6, she went to his brother’s home and threatened to file a rape case.

Under pressure, he transferred a flat in Sector 92 in her name on July 11. On July 12, Poonam again reached his brother’s home and forced the complainant to transfer a flat in Tulip society.
Unable to take it anymore, he approached police on Saturday, and a case was registered at Sector 10A police station under sections 384 (extortion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC. “She was arrested from her Sector 89 flat and sent to police custody,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
