70 sovereigns stolen from locked house

Tirupur: Burglars decamped with 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments from a locked house at Salaipalayam near Avinashi in the district.
House owner K Rangasamy of Salaipalayam, a doctor at the government hospital in Nambiyur, had left for Kumbakonam along his family on Friday to attend a marriage. They returned on Saturday to find the front door open and 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments missing from a bureau.
Avinashi police registered a case and conduct investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed that people, who were known to the residents, could have involved in the crime. “The burglars targeted the house when the inmates were out of town. We suspect that they knew the family will be absent for a day. Also, the burglars have marked some letters in Hindi on a wall. It could be for diverting investigation,” a police officer said.TNN
