ALLAHABAD: Three unidentified men
shot at a
trader dealing in leather goods outside his shop in Derwa Bazaar, under the jurisdiction of Jethwara police station, in Pratapgarh district late Saturday night.
Police said the victim Mumtaz (46) was sitting outside his shop, which was a part of his residence. Eyewitness told the police that three men on a motorcycle approached Mumtaz and shot at him on point-blank range. Mumtaz was rushed to a nearby government hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. Police are yet to find out why the trader might have been attacked.
Local residents told the police that they could not read the registration number of the attackers’ motorcycle because of the poor light. SP (Pratapgarh) S Anand said two police teams have been formed crack the case.
