Ludhiana: As many as 880 government high and senior secondary schools across the state will be covered under the solar net metering project in which 5kW solar power system (solar panels) will be installed.
The Punjab government has allotted funds totalling Rs 3,080 lakh for the purpose. Of the 880 government schools, 69 schools are in Ludhiana and will be covered under this project. These schools include Government Model Senior Secondary Smart School, Panjab Agricultural University, (PAU); Government Senior Secondary School, Siyar; Government High School, Dhandari Kalan; Government Senior Secondary School, Dhandari Khurd; Government Model Senior Secondary School, Model Town; Government Senior Secondary School, Threeke; Government Senior Secondary School, Kundanpuri; Government Senior Secondary School, division number 3; Government Senior Secondary School, Basti Jodhewal; Government Senior Secondary School, Multipurpose; Government Model Senior Secondary School, Miller Ganj; Government Senior Secondary School, Mundain Kalan; Government Model Senior Secondary School, Cemetery Road; Government Senior Secondary School, Indrapuri; Government Senior Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar (Boys).
DEO(S) Swaranjit Kaur said, “Schools have to apply online for this. This move by the department will prove beneficial for the government schools as after installation of the system the schools can annually save electricity and diesel used for invertors and generators.”
