AMBALA: Police have registered five separate cases of illegal mining against illicit screening plants active in
Naraingarh area of
Ambala district. The cases have been registered on the complaints of
Ambala district mining officer (DMO) Bhupinder Singh.
The cases were registered after the mining officials recovered stocks of illegally mined minerals at the sealed screening plants having no mining license and no objection certificates (NOCs) from the
Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).
In the first case, after an inspection on July 8, the mining officials found stock of around 500 metric tonne (MT) gravel, boulder and sand stocked illegally at Khan Screening Plant in Rao Majra village and booked the owner identified as Rashida on Saturday.
In the second case, after an inspection on July 11, RR Screening Plant Unit 2 and Mahadev Gravels in Rao Majra village were found illegally stocking around 500 MT and 560 MT minerals respectively. The owners of these plants Salamudin and Mustaq carried out illegal mining in the fields near eucalyptus trees in Rao Majra village with the help of earthmovers.
In the third case, after an inspection on July 8, Mahadev Gravels and RR Screening Plant Unit 2 in Rao Majra were found stocking minerals despite being sealed in the recent past by HSPCB. The owners Mustaq and Salamudin have been booked on Saturday.
While in the fourth case, after an inspection on July 8, Sangrani Screening Plant Unit 1, Unit 2 and Sangam Screening Plant in Sangrani village were found operational despite being sealed by the HSPCB. In the fifth case, after an inspection on July 8, Neelkanth Screening Plant, Baljit Screening Plant, DF Screening Plant in Mianpur village were found operational despite having no NOCs and licenses.
Naraingarh SHO inspector Arvind Kumar said, "We have registered the cases as per the reports of the mining department and investigation will be carried out on the basis of facts and action will be taken as per law."
