BJP State general secretary K. Surendran said on Monday that he had brought to the notice of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Central Vigilance Commission the alleged corruption in the awarding of contract to prepare a detailed project report for setting up sewage treatment plants under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) in Kozhikode city.
Addressing the media, Mr. Surendran said CPI(M) MLA A. Pradeep Kumar was involved in the deal. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had claimed in the Assembly that there was no need for an investigation into the issue. Later, it was decided that the Kozhikode Corporation would look into it. Local bodies could not investigate corruption allegations, he said.
CBI probe sought
The BJP leader sought a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged sabotage of Kerala Public Service Commission exams in the wake of reports that Kerala University answer scripts had been found at the house of a Students Federation of India activist involved in the recent stabbing incident at University College, Thiruvananthapuram. Two of the accused persons had scored high ranks in the PSC test for the post of civil police officer.
