Hit and run on Hajira road kills one, another critical

Surat: A 30-year-old woman died on the spot, while her husband is fighting for his life in New Civil Hospital, after a truck rammed into their motorcycle on Hajira road, opposite L&T company gate no 1, on Sunday afternoon. In the hit and run case, the errant truck driver fled the scene with the truck.
According to the officials of Hajira police station, Pankaj Virani, 32, an employee of a finance company and resident of a row house in Yogi Chowk, was on his way to Suvali beach with his wife Jagruti, on Sunday.
While the duo reached L&T gate no 1 on Hajira road, a truck speeding from the rear side rammed into their bike after which both the husband and wife were flung from their vehicle several feet into the air. While Jagruti died on the spot, Pankaj was rushed to the NCH ina critical state.
Police said, “The truck driver managed to flee with his vehicle but we will catch him soon.” The area has CCTV cameras and footage are being checked for evidence.
