The authorities of Kaleshwaram project commissioned the fifth motor of Kannepally pump house on Sunday to lift water from Medigadda barrage to Annaram barrage in the upstream of the Godavari river course.
With the help of five motors about 11,500 cusecs of water was being pumped towards Annaram. Over one tmc ft of water could be lifted by running all the five motors together for 24 hours, the irrigation authorities said.
Inflows into Godavari at Medigadda barrage on Sunday night stood only around 2,100 cusecs with the storage in the barrage recorded at over 6.5 tmc ft and that of Annaram barrage at 3.6 tmc ft. With the commissioning of the fifth motor the project engineers are gearing up to operationalise the remaining six motors one-by-one at Kannepally.
Meanwhile, the engineers of Andriz and ABB companies which have supplied pumps and other machinery for Kannepally pump house were also there during the commissioning of the fifth motor on Sunday.
