Delay in Air India flight creates ruckus

Passengers arguing with flight officials at Vadodara airport
VADODARA: A Delhi-bound flight of Air India got delayed for nearly two and a half hours, creating anxious moments in Vadodara airport’s terminal building on Saturday morning.
The flight was supposed to depart at 7 am, but due to the delay the perturbed passengers created ruckus inside the terminal building even as officials of the airline insisted that the delay was due to a technical snag in the aircraft.
Some passengers demanded that the airline should refund their airfare while others entered into heated arguments with the airline’s staff.
The staff insisted that the provision of refund is applicable only if the flight gets cancelled and not when it is delayed.
Other passengers who had reached early demanded that the airline should provide them snacks while some others complained that the ground staff hadn't provided them timely information, disrupting their further journey.
An airline staffer was gheraoed by agitated passengers demanding that he should call his seniors to provide proper explanations to the passengers.

According to officials, the flight departed only at 9.30 am.
“The problem is not regarding the delay. It is because we are not getting proper response from the staff who are present at the airport. Instead of providing us accurate information, they kept on insisting that the flight will take off soon,” said a passenger.
