Six Rajasthan cops booked for ‘raping’ Dalit woman

JAIPUR: Rajasthan police on Sunday registered an FIR against six cops, including the suspended SHO of Sardarshahar police station in Churu district, for alleged gang rape and wrongful confinement of a 35-year-old Dalit woman.
She had alleged that the cops tortured her brother-in-law to death on July 6 and raped her after picking them up in an alleged theft case. A judicial inquiry has been ordered into the alleged custodial killing.

The FIR was registered after the woman recorded her statement from hospital on Saturday. She alleged persistent custodial beatings — leading to severe injuries on her eyes, arms and neck — and gang rape by the cops inside the police station.
Churu SP Rajendra Kumar was removed while DSP Bhanwar Lal was suspended and put under a vigilance probe on Friday.
