Two women murdered by husbands in Tamil Nadu

MADURAI: Two women were murdered by their husbands in separate incidents in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin.
In the first incident, police were on the lookout for a 37-year-old man on charges of murdering his wife by hacking her with a machete. The accused, Maharajan, 37, of J J Nagar in Munnirpallam area near Melapalayam in Tirunelveli city is a daily wage earner.
He lived with his wife, Selvi, 35, and their two sons -- Mahesh Raja, 11, and Anand Raja, 10. On Sunday, the couple had a quarrel. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a machete.
On hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the spot. They rescued Selvi and rushed her to Tirunelveli Government Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The Munnirpallam police were on the lookout for the accused.

In another incident, Bagyamuthu, 57, of Rajapalayam in Tuticorin district, had a quarrel with his wife Annie Besant, 55, on Saturday night. He beat her with log and killed her.
Her body was sent to the Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. The Thalamuthu Nagar police were investigating.
