BAREILLY: In a tragic incident, a one-and-half-year-old kid died after a car plunged into a
roadside pond in which he was traveling with his parents. The incident happened near Lakshmi cold storage on
NH 24 under Faridpur police station limits in Uttar Pradesh on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
Inspector Ashvini Kumar said that the couple was on their way home after having dinner at a dhaba in Faridpur when the incident occurred.
“Neeraj Saxena, a resident of Para locality in Faridpur, lost control over the vehicle while driving. Saxena and his wife somehow managed to come out of the pond but their son drowned in the pond and they couldn’t rescue him,” inspector Kumar said.
In the morning, two local divers fished out toddler’s body after a toil that lasted for two hours. The car was also pulled out with the help of a JCB machine.
“Since they didn’t want to conduct post-mortem on their son’s body we didn’t lodge any complaint,” Kumar said.
