Academy prez to attend IFFI’s jubilee edition

NEW DELHI: This year’s golden jubilee celebrations of the International Film Festival of India in Goa, the I&B ministry’s marquee film festival, will have Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences chief John Bailey in attendance, I&B minister Prakash Javadekar said.
The festival, scheduled from November 20-28, is expected to be a grander event than usual and the ministry has decided to rope in students of the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, as part of the festival’s organising team. “Oscar Academy president John Bailey has confirmed his presence for the festival,” Javadekar said on Sunday. He said Russia has expressed interest to be IFFI’s international partner.
