Chain snatchers detained under Goondas Act

Coimbatore: Collector K Rajamani on Saturday detained two chain snatchers under the Goondas Act.
S Nagendhiran, 38, of Zameen Uthukuli near Pollachi and J Senthilmurugan, 23, a native of Nellikuppam in Cuddalore district, were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison for snatching a 4.5-sovereign gold chain from Chandrapushpam, wife of Senthurpandiyan of Iruttupallam near Karunya Nagar, on June 12.
The duo had arrived at Chandrapushpam’s grocery shop on a motorcycle asking for peanut candy. One of them snatched her chain and tried to escape from the place. But they fell on the road from the motorcycle. When locals tried to catch them, they flashed knives. However, the locals overpowered them and handed them over to the Karunya Nagar police.
