DGP’s advice
Director General of Police J.K. Tripathy advised police personnel to keep their mind fresh and free from any kind of pressure while discharging their duty in the service of the public.
He said this during a brief interaction with 115 police personnel and their family members who attended a “Well-Being” programme here on Sunday. The DGP, who recently took charge, also had a discussion with top police officials from South Zone. He said the service of the police force should be in such a way that they could win the confidence of the public.
Commissioner of Police S. Davidson Devasirvatham, Inspector General of Police (South Zone) K.P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran, Deputy Inspector Generals of Police and Superintendents of Police from the zone took part.
Impostor held
A 36-year-old man, M. Santhoshkumar of Tiruppur, was arrested for cheating after he took a suite in Circuit House here claiming to be friend of the Chief Minister’s son. Police said that the man had checked in with his wife and two children around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday.
When suspicion arose over his claims, revenue officials enquired him on Sunday morning. He said that he availed the room with the recommendation of son of one of the Ministers.
Following his contradictory statements, police was brought and enquiry revealed that he had called the Revenue Divisional Officer and District Revenue Officer, claiming himself to be the personal secretary to the Chief Minister.
