A total of 4,378 cases were disposed of and compensation to the tune of ₹ 39.37 crore were settled during the Lok Adalat held here on Saturday.

Organised by the District Legal Services Authority, the Adalat was conducted on the Combined District Court premises at Sampath Nagar. As many as 23 committees were formed to conduct inquiries into the cases that were taken up during the Adalat.

Of the total 10,501 cases taken up during the day, 4,378 cases were disposed of and compensation to the tune of ₹ 39,37,26,000 were settled. It includes, motor vehicle accident claim cases, family cases, cheque dishonour cases and other civil cases.

In Salem district, of the total 13,889 cases taken up during the Adalat, 1,832 cases were disposed of and compensation to the tune of ₹ 16,02,71,238 were settled. In Namakkal district, a total of 2,000 cases were disposed of and compensation to the tune of ₹ 16.21 crore was settled during the Adalat.
