Belagavi: Shahjahan Dongargaon, former Congress
MLA from
Athani touched the feet of Prakash Kumathalli, the younger brother of Athani MLA
Mahesh Kumathalli urging him to convince his brother to withdraw his
resignation.
The incident took place during a
protest by Congress
workers against the MLA at Athani town on Friday. Interestingly, the workers were told not to shout slogans against Mahesh.
Hundreds of
Congress workers led by Chikkodi district (rural) president
Laxmanrao Chingale protested in-front of Kumathalli’s residence. At the time, some of the workers urged the MLA’s brother Prakash to convince his brother. Meanwhile, former MLA Shahjahan Dongargaon touched his feet.
Chingale said Congress workers of the constituency worked day and night for Mahesh’s victory and urged him not to deceive the voters and the Congress workers.
“The people of the constituency voted for him for Athani’s development. Hence, he should return to the constituency immediately and hear the grievances of public,” Chingale urged.
Earlier in the day, Congress party workers blocked the Sankeshwar- Jevargi state highway as a mark of protest.
KPCC secretary (ST unit) Ramesh Sindagi, district president Siddharth Shinge, KPCC secretary (OBC unit) Satteppa Bagennavar, Harshad Gadyal, Shamarao Pujari, SK Butali and others were present.
