Gender Reveal Burnout In Australia Turns Sour As HSV Erupts In Flames

Footage from a gender reveal party on Australia’s Gold Coast has captured the moment a powerful HSV caught fire after it performed a colourful burnout on a public road.

Drone footage of the incident shows the powerful homebred muscle car emitting plumes of blue smoke as it does a burnout to celebrate the upcoming birth of a boy. Everything looks to be going well, but as the driver comes to a stop and continues to spin up the rear wheels, flames suddenly erupt from underneath the car.

Bystanders can be seen helping the driver and his passenger escape from the car before the fire spreads, but bizarrely, someone jumps back in the car, seemingly in an attempt to put out the flames by driving around.

The incident occurred on April 18, 2018 and the 29-year-old driver was recently charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was also fined $1,000 AUD and banned from driving for six months, 7 News reports.

This isn’t the first time we’ve shared footage of the strange gender reveal burnout trend emanating from the Land Down Under. In April, similar drone footage surfaced online showing the driver of a Ford Falcon performing a smoky burnout and also creating plumes of blue smoke.

In this case, the sedan didn’t catch fire but footage of the burnout did quickly spread across social media and landed in the hands of New South Wales police. The driver, two of his friends and the baby’s grandmother were all charged in connection with the incident that wasn’t much appreciated by the police…
