RAJKOT: Even as investigators struggle to ascertain the exact reason behind the alleged suicides of a woman assistant sub-inspector and a constable, they found one more
revolver at her house in Pandit Deendayal Nagar on the 150 feet Ring Road on Friday.
On Thursday, Khushbu Kanabar and Ravirajsinh Jadeja, both working in University police station, were found dead with bullet injuries at the former’s house.
The service revolver belongs to another
ASI Vivek Kuchadia. According to police, Kuchadia and his wife, who is also a police constable, had came for a party with Kanabar and Jadeja at her house.
Kuchadia told police that he had forgotten the revolver at her house after the party, but police are verifying his claims. According to Kuchadia, they were family friends and even went on outings together.
Talking to TOI, police commissioner Manoj Agarwal said, “We are awaiting the forensic report which will help ascertain who fired first. Looking at the positions of the bodies, it is not possible to say who fired first. So we have to rely on forensic and other reports.”
“We are also getting the call detail records from their mobiles to get some clues from their conversation,” he added.
Police also found 18 cartridges from the house. Two bullets were fired from Khushbu’s revolver, which police suspect were loaded before taking the drastic step.
Khushbu and Jadeja, who was married, were reportedly in a relationship. Postmortem report confirmed that Khushbu was not pregnant.
After the shocking incident, police commissioner has ordered that ASIs and constables will not be allowed to carry their service weapons after the duty hours. They will have to deposited them with the PSO in the police station before going home. Sources said this rule existed, but it was not followed strictly.
