The body of the one-year-and-three-month old girl, Sanvika, who was abducted on Thursday, was found near the bank of the Kubja at Karoor village, about 2 km from Yadamogge village, in Udupi district on Friday.
The police took the body to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal, where the postmortem was conducted.
The body was later handed over to the parents for the last rites, the police said.
Rekha, Sanvika’s mother, had lodged a complaint that a person wearing a mask had abducted her daughter, who was sleeping in their house at Yadamogge, in Shankarnarayana police limits, on Thursday. She had said that the abductor had jumped into the Kubja flowing near their house along with her daughter.
Meanwhile, speaking to presspersons here, Nisha James, Superintendent of Police, said that the case will be investigated from all angles.
