Biker on way home mowed down by car in Indirapuram

Ghaziabad: A 50-year-old man was killed after a speeding car rammed into the motorcycle he was riding in Indirapuram area on Thursday night.
Police said the deceased, identified as Ashok Sharma, was a resident of Delhi and he used to run a printing press in Indirapuram.
He was on his way home after closing the press for the day when the car hit the two-wheeler from the rear.
“The accident took place around 10.30 pm on Thursday and passersby informed the police immediately. A police team reached the spot and took him to Shanti Gopal Hospital in Indirapuram. But he died during treatment,” said Sandeep Kumar Singh, the SHO of Indirapuram police station.
“According to the doctors at the hospital, he died of head injuries,” Singh added.
“The car that hit the two-wheeler was travelling at about 60 kmph and the driver fled the spot after the accident. Police have lodged an FIR against unknown person under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 304A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50),” Singh added.

Sushant Sharma, the son of the deceased, said that most of the time, Sharma would use his car. But on Thursday, he was on his bike .
“He left the house around 9 am on Thursday to go to the printing press. Our family got information about the accident from the police around 11 pm. We rushed to the hospital but by the time we reached, he was no more,” Sushant added.
