But Coles' main competitor Woolworths didn't miss a beat and announced their own Lion King themed collectibles on the same day.

The Australian supermarket chain confirmed shoppers can get their hands on a Disney character from Wednesday, July 17 for every $30 spent in store or online.

The limited edition Lion King collection will feature 24 'Ooshies', including Simba, Nala, Mufasa and a translucent blue 'Spirit Mufasa'.

Woolies even launched their new promotion on the same day as Coles.

Woolies' announcement follows the success of Coles Little Shop which first launched in July last year, and featured 30 iconic household brands such as Vegemite, Nutella, Tim Tams and Weet-Bix.

The promotion ran for two months in 2018, and was even extended due to the huge reaction from shoppers across the country.

Shoppers received one collectible for every $30 spent in store which they then picked from blind bags at the checkout.
