KURUKSHETRA: A woman was burnt alive and a man died due to suffering serious head injury after a luxury sleeper bus they were traveling in overturned and caught fire near
Sanwala village in
Kurukshetra district of
Haryana at around 4am on Sunday.
The deceased include an elderly woman identified as Geeta Devi (74) of Karol Bagh, New Delhi and Hardeep (23) of Jaspal Nagar, Amritsar.
Uttar Pradesh registered bus was on its way to Amritsar from New Delhi, as stated in the FIR lodged by a passenger traveling on the bus, the bus driver was intoxicated and was rash driving due to which he lost control.
Six persons with serious injuries have been referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh while others were discharged from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, Kurukshetra.
On the complaint of Narinder Gupta, a passenger traveling in the bus from Karol Bagh, New Delhi, the Kurukshetra police have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC at Thanesar Sadar police station related to this accident.
Investigation officer from Pipli police post sub-inspector Surender said, “the post mortems of the deceased are being conducted and the injured are undergoing treatments.”
