India 0-3 down at half time

So that's it for the first half. India have conceded three goals in this half. Will be curtains for their campaign if they lose today. India have now conceded 7 goals in this tournament without replying. This defence has looked shaky, and with Jhingan gone with a hamstring injury, things are not looking very bright. The only times India have looked dangerous is when Brandon's balls have floated in. Lots of work for the Blue Tigers in the second half. Lots of work for Stimac in the dressing room now.

Another free kick in a dangerous area

Adil Khan, who has just come on, is putting in some strong challenges. Gives away a free kick just outside the box this time. Yellow card for Adil Khan.
And that was well struck as well! This time, Amrinder is able to come around and get his hands to the ball to parry it away.

More disaster

When it rains, it pours. Sandesh Jhingan makes a bad tackle, gets a yellow card. But more importantly, he is down clutching his hamstring. That's the injury concern which forced him to miss the last match.
Confirmation that Sandesh Jhingan is off and Adil Khan is in central defence in his place. This Indian central defence is a work in progress, byt with Jhingan gone, this could get ugly if the Korean side decide to kick on a gear or two.

India make a rare foray

India make a rare foray into the opposition's penalty box but yet again a pass goes wayward from Borges. India are looking like a beaten team now. Can they pull up their socks and make some sort of a statement?

Third goal

Things cannot get worse for India it seems! The Korean side score their third goal! Jerry is unable to rise to the cross and Amrinder cannot move quickly enough to block the header. This Indian defence is looking porous!
ubstitute Song whips in a threatening cross which is headed home brilliantly by DPR Korea captain Jong Il Gwan in the 29th minute.

Good save by Amrinder

North Korea almost went up by a third goal there. Manvir Singh does just about enough to get the striker off balance and Amrinder comes up with a good save off the header. Surprisingly, the Korean side are making their first substitution. In the 27th minute. And it does not look like this is an injury-forced one. A defender coming on for a striker. Change of tactics on the cards.

India look shaky

The Koreans are having a free rein at the moment. Looking a much better-organized team and also faring much better in the first touches. Long balls have looked the most dangerous way to goal from the Indian side. Brandon has come up with a few dangerous looking balls. Jobby Justin, as usual, giving his all in chasing the ball. One has to say though, these early signs are troubling from the perspective of the Blue Tigers.

Second goal

Stunned silence in Ahmedabad as Korea go 2-0 up! Excellent teamwork and deft touches that bring out a defensive error from the Indians. Sim Jin scores the second goal of the match in the 16th minute.

Chhetri heads just over

India almost fighting back straightaway. Chhetri gets a powerful header in, but can't keep it down. It goes over the bar as Chhetri looks distraught. Amarjit comes up with another powerful tackle in the middle and we have another stop in play.

Goal

1-0 to North Korea. That's blasted in from the free kick. Amrinder Singh's positioning not the best as his leap to the left not good enough to keep the ball out. Jong Gwan, the captain, the goalscorer.

Amarjit in the middle

Amarjit Singh is having a big say in proceedings in these early stages. Has conceded two free kicks already. Has played a big role in breaking up the Korean attacks so far.

Korea threaten to find the first opening

North Korea get their first sight of goal in the 5th minute. Ball was bobbing in the penalty area dangerously for a second or two. Subhashish Bose comes in with the tackle from behind. The Korean attacker takes a dramatic tumble forward but referee waves play forward.

We're off

Ahmedabad roars as the Blue Tigers get us underway. First opening of the match found by Manvir down the right flank. Jobby Justin was waiting in the middle as the crowd egged on Manvir to make the pass. The pass was misdirected though.

Anthems ring out

The anthems are playing inside the stadium. First North Korea's, then India's. India have never beaten North Korea in a FIFA friendly before. They need to create history, therefore, if they are resurrect their campaign today.

North Korea are lining up in a 4-4-2 formation. Here is how their team looks: Antae Song (GK), Kim Chol Bom, Ri Yong Chol, Han Thae Hyok, Jang Kuk Chol; Jong Il Gwan, Ri Un Il, Sim Hyon Jin, Hong Jin Song; Ri Un Chol, Ri Hyong Jin

10 minutes from kick-off

India will be playing in blue today. Remember, a defeat for either team today spells curtains for their campaigns. Syria and Tajikistan will automatically go through to the final, to be played on July 19. The AEK stadium in Ahmedabad is buzzing in readiness. Good to see a big crowd in for this one.

Dressing room scenes

We are less than half hour from kick-off.

Jobby Justin named in starting XI

Jobby Justin being named in the starting XI is a special moment for the lad. Came on in the last few minutes of the Tajikistan match to make his debut. This is the first time he will be stepping on to the pitch as one of the starting XI. He made a huge impact for East Bengal last season in the I-League.

Nine changes in starting XI

Stimac makes wholesale changes to the starting XI from the last match.

IN: Amrinder, Kotal, Jhingan, Bose, Jerry L, Brandon, Rowllin, Manvir, Jobby
OUT: Gurpreet, Gahlot, Adil, Bheke, Mandar, Thapa, Sahal, Udanta, Chhangte

Lineup is out

Jhingan returns to the heart of India's defence. We also line up with three players in advanced positions - Sunil Chhetri, Jobby Justin and Manvir Singh. Will be interesting to see how the three connect with each other.

On on!

“The whole team is focused on the match against DPR Korea. What’s done is done and we are not thinking about the loss to Tajikistan. We have been working hard so as to not repeat the mistakes we made. We want to play better,” says young midfielder Amarjit Singh.

Leaky Indian defence

Adil Khan and debutant Narender Gahlot, who manned the central defence, were found wanting on many occasions vs Tajikistan, while wing backs Rahul Bheke and Mandar Rao Desai also struggled. Most of Tajikistan's attacks came from the right side through Bheke. The Indian back-four committed mistake after mistakes in the second half but to be fair to them, all of them were an inexperienced lot at the international stage. Gahlot and Desai debuted for India in that match while Adil and Bheke were just a few matches old. Senior player and defensive mainstay Sandesh Jhingan did not play as he had a minor niggle. He is expected to marshall the Indian defence today.

India look to get campaign back on track

Igor Stimac's men will look to come back from their defeat against Tajikistan in their first match with a more dominating performance against North Korea. Incidentally, Syria, the highest ranked team in the competition, also lost to Tajikistan. So this competition is still wide open in terms of which two teams will finish in the top two spots.
