HYDERABAD: Soon after a case was booked against Mekala Hanumanth Reddy, husband of TRS Uppal corporator Mekala Anala Reddy, on Friday for allegedly extorting Rs 5 lakh from a school management, Hanumanth accused Uppal MLA Bethi Subash Reddy, who belongs to the same party, of conspiring against him.
“This is not the first case, earlier too, the MLA conspired against me and ensured that three cases are booked against me. He is against other GHMC corporators too. Mohammad Jahangir, the complainant, is a close aide of the MLA,” he alleged.
Mohammad Jahangir, a staffer at a private school in Uppal, lodged a complaint with the police against Hanumanth. “If Subash Reddy calls up the corporators in his constituency, except his wife Bethi Swapna Reddy, who is Habsiguda corporator, no one will pick his call as he does not share a good rapport with them. He was against me since the time I became a corporator,” said Hanumanth Reddy.

Speaking to TOI, the MLA denied the allegations by the corporator stating that the complainant is an aide of the corporator.“The complainant is not my aide, in fact, they are Hanumanth Reddy’s anachurulu (followers), I have no role in his personal matters or police complaints. I have good relations with all corporators and I invite them for all meetings,” Subash Reddy told TOI.
A case was booked under IPC Section 448 (trespassing) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Hanumanth Reddy. “Mohammad Jahangir lodged a complaint that Hanumanth Reddy has demanded money from the school management. An FIR has been booked and we are probing into the allegations,” said P Venkateshwarlu circle inspector of Uppal police station.
