Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Sheila Dikshit on Friday announced the names of 14 District Congress Committee and 280 Block Congress Committee observers to short-list probable candidates for the post of presidents of the block committees.
“The observer will interact with former MPs, MLAs, municipal councillors, senior leaders and grass-root level workers before suggesting the probable names within 10 days,” the DPCC said.
Following a meeting with former Congress president Rahul Gandhi in June, Ms. Dikshit had dissolved all 280 Block Congress Committees in Delhi “with immediate effect”. She said the decision was taken “keeping in line with the report submitted by a five-member fact-finding committee constituted to study the party’s performance” in the Lok Sabha elections.
