PATNA: Patnaites woke up to overcast skies and waterlogged roads as
rain lashed different parts of the city for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday.
Motorists, auto drivers, office-goers and students waded through knee-deep water in areas like Jakkanpur,
Kadamkuan, Bind Toli, S K Puri, Rajendra Nagar,
Exhibition Road, Lohanipur, Thakurbari Road, Langar Toli and Kankerbagh. While many were stuck in traffic, some faced vehicle breakdown.
One Rishikesh Sinha, whose bike skidded near a hotel on Exhibition Road, blamed the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) for people’s woes. “I wonder what the civic body has been doing all this while,” he asked.
Another motorist, Nalini Singh, was stuck in traffic near R-Block for hours. “There was
waterlogging everywhere, which made it difficult for me to drive,” she complained.
Thakurbari Road resident Raman Kumar Sinha said, “Rain water, which has been accumulating in my area for the last two days, is emanating foul smell. The condition is miserable.”
The impact of heavy downpour was also seen near the Patna Junction, airport, educational institutions and hospitals in the city on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, PMC’s public relations officer Harshita claimed that the waterlogging situation in the city was far better than previous years. “Sanitation workers are working round the clock to pump out water from several localities. We are also trying to resolve people’s problems as soon as possible,” she said.
