CHENNAI: All six candidates who filed their nominations for Rajya Sabha election in Tamil Nadu have been elected unopposed.
DMK candidates M Shanmugam and P Wilson as well as MDMK chief Vaiko received their certificates from assembly secretary K Srinivasan on Thursday.
Other MP-elect are Mohammed Jaan and N Chandrasekaran of the AIADMK and Anbumani Ramadoss of the PMK.

The Election Commission had announced July 18 as the day for Rajya Sabha election. But after DMK candidate N R Elango withdrew his nomination, the remaining six candidates have been elected unopposed. The DMK had fielded Elango as a backup candidate in the event of the nomination of Vaiko -- who was sentenced in a sedition case -- was rejected.
DMK and AIADMK shared three candidates each based on their numbers in the assembly. Each MP needed 34 votes.
