Under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Basthalapalli lake here has been taken up for restoration and desilting with the participation of a private firm here.
The fillip to private participation in water harvesting and conservation and restoration of water bodies was given by the Centre’s Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign this week.
In its wake, the district administration held meetings with private companies and voluntary organisations seeking out their participation in the campaign. The Basthalapalli lake in Basthalapalli panchayat was taken up for restoration works by a private firm.
The works comprising desilting, strengthening of embankments, repair of shutters and desilting of channels were flagged off by Collector S.Prabhakar on Thursday.
According to an administration release, private participation is encouraged by the administration as part of the campaign to restore lakes.
