Ludhiana: Monsoon showers continued in the city on the third consecutive day, giving residents some reason to enjoy a cup of hot tea and pakodas.
As per the predictions by meteorological department, the city will continue receiving rainfall in the next few days.
After the rain on Wednesday morning, the sky remained overcast till afternoon and was later replaced by sunny weather. The meteorological department recorded 3.6mm rainfall from 8.30am on Tuesday and 8.30 on Wednesday.
The effect of rainfall did reflect on the temperatures in the city with maximum temperature being recorded at 32°C, which is degree less than normal. The day temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius, which was one degree less than normal.
The minimum (night) temperature in the city on Wednesday was also recorded on the lower side at 25.8°C. The city witnessed high relative humidity on Tuesday at 91% which is 6-11% more than normal.
The meteorological department’s prediction will bring more cheer among city residents. “The rainfall activity is likely to increase after Thursday and on July 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 light to moderate rainfall is expected in the city and the same is likely to be recorded at 10-30mm. As a result of rainfall, the temperatures are expected to decrease,” said Chandigarh meteorological department director Surender Paul. He also added that the humidity level in Ludhiana is expected to go up during this period.
The department website meanwhile predicts day temperature to fall to 32 degrees Celsius till July 16, whereas minimum temperature is expected to decrease to 25 degrees Celsius till the same date.
Meanwhile, residents are enjoying pleasant weather conditions in city. “Last week, I was planning to go to Manali because of the hot and sultry weather conditions, but cancelled it as the weather considerably improved in the city,” said Nikhil Jain, a trader of Civil Lines.
