HYDERABAD:
Keshampet tehsildar,
V Lavanya, who was arrested under corruption charges by the ACB, was awarded with 'best
tehsildar' award two years ago. On Thursday, the ACB produced Lavanya along with village revenue officer M Antaiah before the magistrate and sent them to judicial remand.
After trapping Antaiah when he took Rs 4 lakh bribe from the complainant on the directions of Lavanya at Kondurgu on Wednesday, ACB team conducted searches at Lavanya’s house in Hayathnagar and seized Rs 93.5 lakh cash and 400 gm gold.
During the subsequent searches conducted at her house in Hayathnagar and at her native place in
Suryapet district, ACB team found incriminating evidence. “We found 11 pattadar passbooks of different people in the private vehicle of the accused Tehsildar. We suspect that the passbooks were in her possession as the land owners could not meet her demands. We also found 45 documents pertaining to properties of private persons,” said an ACB official.
During the investigation, ACB sleuths found out that Lavanya won best tehsildar award two years ago while working at Keshampet. She received the award from
Telangana minister Mahmood Ali.
