Flipkart, in partnership with Axis Bank and Mastercard, has launched its first credit card. This is the e-commerce giant’s first co-branded card; it should be noted that Axis Bank had launched a Buzz credit card in 2016 that offered a 5 percent discount on purchases made the e-commerce platform. The Flipkart credit card will be issued to select users in July and will be made available to all users of the platform later on. This new card will offer 5 percent unlimited cashback on purchases made on Flipkart, Myntra, 2Gud. Users of the Flipkart credit card are entitled to a 4 percent cashback (no maximum amount for the cashback) on platforms and services such as MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, Uber, PVR, Curefit, and UrbanClap.
Additionally, the card also offers 1.5 percent unlimited cashback on purchases made at all other retailers. Flipkart says the cashback will be auto-credited every month to customer’s statement. As a part of the introductory welcome offer, the Flipkart credit card gives users up to 20 percent discount at 4,000 restaurants, airport lounge access, and fuel surcharge disavowal of up to Rs. 500 per month. Moreover, users will get Rs 500 vouchers for Flipkart, MakeMyTrip, and Goibibo as well as 6-month Gaana subscription. Apart from this, and 15 percent and 20 percent discount on Myntra and UrbanClap, respectively.
However, users will be charged Rs 500 joining and annual fee, but the same will be waived off if they spend Rs 2 lakhs using the card. This isn’t the first e-commerce co-branded credit card as Amazon partnered with ICICI Bank, Snapdeal partnered with HDFC, Paytm and Ola launched their credit cards recently.
