'Matter of shame', says DK Shivakumar on being 'forcibly deported' to Bengaluru
Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar, who was camping in Mumbai to attempt meeting the rebel MLAs, sent last night that it was a "matter of shame" that he was sent back to Bengaluru. He blamed the BJP for the same. (ANI)
Last night, rebel Karnataka Congress MLA ST Somashekar told ANI: I will stay here, I am not going back to Mumbai. I have resigned from the post of MLA but I am still in the Congress party.
Supreme Court is set to hear the rebel MLAs’ plea against the Karnataka Assembly Speaker today. This could happen just after 10.30 am when the court convenes.

Update: Section 144 (prohibits assembly of more than four people in an area) has been imposed at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru between July 11-14, news agency ANI has reported.
Update: The meeting of Congress leaders, following the resignation of two more MLAs K Sudhakar and MTB Nagaraj, concludes in Bengaluru. Dinesh Gundu Rao says, "Next course of action...lot of action is coming up. These meetings are going to continue."
Update: A meeting of Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, KC Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge, G. Parameshwara, Siddaramaiah, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Eshwara Khandre and others is underway following the resignation of two more MLAs – K Sudhakar and MTB Nagaraj.
Siddaramaiah: Sudhakar is not a BJP MLA or BJP worker, just because he has resigned doesn't mean he is a BJP MLA. As long as his resignation is not accepted, he continues to be a member of the Congress party. As a CLP leader I was trying to convince him.
What made BJP people do rowdyism like that? BJP MLAs and workers are rowdies. I condemn it. It is quiet evident that BJP leaders, Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are behind all this. They are defecting and threatening our MLAs. (ANI)
BJP MLA from Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai: It's a black day in the history of Karnataka democracy. A ruling party's MLA (Sudhakar) has been assaulted by his own President, Minister and colleagues. They tried to put pressure on him. He as MLA couldn't work independently, therefore, there is a gundaraj in the state.
I urge the Governor to intervene and throw away this Kumaraswamy govt. I urge Kumaraswamy if you continue with Congress your image will be totally tarnished. In good wisdom resign and vacate the place. (ANI)
Update: Congress submits a complaint at Powai Police Station, in Mumbai, alleging wrongful confinement of eight Congress MLAs, CNN News18 has reported.
Office of Milind Deora told news agency ANI: Mr Milind Deora and other Congress leaders have been released. The police is taking Mr DK Shivkumar to the airport. He is being forcibly sent back to Bengaluru.
Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar in Mumbai: I am still confident that all of them will come back. Congress-JD(S) govt which is there will be safe. None of them is leaving the party.

Update: Congress MLAs K Sudhakar and MTB Nagaraj, who resigned earlier today, have arrived at Raj Bhawan in Bengaluru.
Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar told ANI: Today 2 more MLAs have resigned – K Sudhakar and MTB Nagaraj. As in the case of other MLAs, law will take its own course. The law cannot deviate from person to person, it is uniform for one and all.

Congress MLAs MTB Nagaraj and Sudhakar arrive at Speaker chamber. They are also likely to submit their resignation, News18 has reported.
Milind Deora has said: “There was no provocation from our side. Mumbai police detained us a few minutes back even though we were sitting outside the rest house in a peaceful manner.”
We want these MLAs to go back to Bengaluru, he said, adding police and state machinery are being misused.
Effects of the political crisis are being felt in Parliament. Opposition MPs are protesting in the Well of the House in the Rajya Sabha. Similar scenes were witnessed yesterday.

Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar, former union minister Milind Deora and former Maharashtra minister Naseem Khan have been detained by Mumbai Police. They were staying out outside the hotel where rebel MLAs are staying. Section 144 had been imposed in the area.
