Six persons, including a government primary school headmaster and an engineering student, died in separate road accidents in the city on Wednesday night and Thursday.
In the first case, a Swiggy delivery boy died after a tipper hit bike from behind near Parvathnagar crossroads in Madhapur on Wednesday night.
Police said the accident took place around 11 p.m. when K Naresh Babu (23) from Yousufguda was going to make a delivery.
A second year engineering student, who was triple-riding a motorcycle, was killed when their vehicle was mowed down by a truck coming in the same direction in Medchal. The victim, Ch. Uday Kiran (19) from CMR Engineering college, and two friends were returning to the hostel after having tea at a dhaba near Medchal check post. The accident took place around 1 a.m., said the Medchal police.
In another accident reported in Medchal, B Rajan (43), a farmer from Raja Bollaram Tanda, died after a truck hit his bike. Police said the accident took place around 10 p.m. when the victim was returning home. The truck was coming in the wrong direction, police said.
T Ramesh (31), a private employee from Uppal, died after a DCM van hit his bike from behind near Medipally. The accident took place around 8 p.m. and Ramesh succumbed to the injuries at a private hospital.
In an accident at the same time in Turkapally of Shamirpet, a 55-year-old man died after he was dragged for over one km by a lorry. The victim, Haji Khan, was crossing the road when a truck hit him. He died on the spot.
On Thursday evening, a 57-year-old man working as headmaster of a government primary school in Aliabad of Shamirpet was killed when his bike was hit by an SUV coming in the opposite direction.
The Shamirpet police said the accident took place around 4 p.m. and Narender, who was going towards Alwal from Tumkunta, died on the spot. The SUV driver fled the scene.
In another accident at Jeedimetla, a 23-year-old private employee from Jagathgirigutta, pillion-riding a bike, was killed.
Police said Kodimala Dinesh Reddy and two friends were returning home after attending a birthday party. Rajesh lost control of the bike they were on and the vehicle skidded, following which they fell off and Dinesh died on the spot. The accident took place around 2.30 a.m.
