Man beaten to death by 8 for resisting loot bid

Surat: A 27-year-old man was beaten to death by eight people in Sachin area of the city on Wednesday night. The group earlier in the day had snatched away Rs16,000 from the deceased’s friend.
Textile worker Rahul was returning home with his salary of Rs16,000 when Naju Bharwad, Mehul Bharwad, Hari Bharwad, Jitu Bharwad, Budha Bharwad, Isu Bharwad, Gabhru Bharwad and Bharwad took away his money on Wednesday. Rahul informed his friend Akhil Singh alias Parkar Madansingh Rajput at his shop in sector 2 of Surat Urban Development Authority.
Akhil Singh approached Bharwads and asked them to return his friend’s money. There was an argument between them and the accused beat up Akhil Singh. They hit him on his head with sticks and also attacked him with a sword.

Meanwhile, Akhil Singh’s mother came running to save her son, but was hit on head by a wooden stick by Gabhru Bharwad. The woman lay there in a pool of blood along with her son and the accused fled on their motorcycles. Akhil and his mother were rushed to a hospital by people. Akhil died during treatment.
A police officer said, “A manhunt has been launched for the accused. The accused are hiding in their community clusters in different parts of the city and would be nabbed soon.”
