Labour Minister T.P.Ramakrishnan announced here on Wednesday that the government would open employability centres and PSC facilitation units in all districts to provide assistance for job seekers.
Delivering the inaugural address at a function organised to mark World Youth Skills Day, he urged the youth in Kerala to acquire new skills to match industry requirements and enhance their employment potential. The government , he said, accorded priority to equipping youth with skills in tune with the latest developments in science and technology and the changing needs of employers in several sectors.
“Job aspirants should be equipped to tackle any kind of competition in the job market. They should have new ideas, domain knowledge and communication skills”, he said, adding that the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) was working on an initiative to create new employment opportunities in the government and private sectors.
Mr.Ramakrishnan launched a skill registry mobile application to be deployed by KASE.
He said the facility would help job aspirants to zero in on employment opportunities in diverse sectors. The registry has been developed by the Industrial Training Department in association with the Kudumbashree Mission and Panchayat Department.
The Minister said efforts were on to elevate the Industrial Training Institutes in Kerala to world class standards. He also presented prizes to the winners of the world skills contest.
