A knifeman is on the loose in Sydney's west after a teenage boy was left with multiple stab wounds.
Police officers, dogs and a helicopter have been fielded to track down the alleged attacker following the incident on Boronia Street, at South Granville, after 9.15am on Thursday.
Paramedics found a 17-year-old man with multiple wounds to his head, neck, back and chest at a block of flats.

Emergency services were called to the block of flats at South Granville at 9.15am on Thursday
Emergency services have rushed the 17-year-old man to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition
'It was quite a disturbing scene when paramedics arrived because we were confronted with a man who had lost a lot of blood,' NSW Ambulance Inspector Jennine Kiely said.
Emergency services treated the injured teenager him at the scene before transporting him to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A nearby resident described the chaotic scene following the attack.

'I seen two guys helping a bloke out on the floor and I walked past him and the guy was in a pool of blood,' he told 9News.
'The bloke was pretty bad. He was in a bad state.'
The distraught local described the area as a family friendly neighbourhood with lots of kids around.
A crime scene has been established outside the residence while police search the area around nearby Horlyck Reserve.
