“The Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite are said to be global variants of the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e”
The Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite one key specification has been leaked online ahead of the launch. MySmartPrice, in collaboration with gadget tipster Ishan Agarwal, has revealed that the Mi A3 has the codename “bamboo_sprout”, while the Mi A3 Lite is dubbed “cosmos_sprout” internally in the company. This is in line with a report by XDA Developers earlier. The source suggests that one of these phones will have a Snapdragon 730 processor and the other will feature a Snapdragon 675 chipset, probably the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite respectively. Notably, the tipster has mentioned that he’s not totally sure about it.
Recently, a Xiaomi Android One smartphone with the model number M1906F9SH was certified by the Federal Communications Commission. The device in the certification closely resembles with the recently launched Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e smartphones. So it’s not too farfetched to speculate that Xiaomi could launch them as the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite in global markets including India. Notably, the phone on FCC also has a 48MP sensor, just like the Mi CC9 duo. Sadly, there’s no word when the brand is planning to launch its next-gen Android One phones.
It’s worth mentioning that in late-April, Xiaomi’s Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain tweeted that the brand will launch a Snapdragon 700 series handset in India. This sparked speculations that the company could release the Mi A3 in the country. But the phone maker seemed to dismiss the plan as the launch didn’t happen. However, now it looks like the Mi A3 series phones will finally be launching in the country in the near future.
