LUCKNOW: Minister of state for transport (independent charge), UP, Swatantra Dev Singh, said that in the accident on Yamuna Expressway on Monday morning in which a Janrath bus fell into a gorge killing 29 people, it was the driver who dozed off and lost control over the bus.
However, the minister could not answer as to how the department reached the conclusion that driver dozed off. The driver had died in the accident.
The inquiry report was handed over to chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday night.

Transport minister also evaded questions on whether the bus had lost touch with the Vehicle Tracking Device (VTS).
Though the bus had a Speed Limiting Device (SLD) it is to be seen if it failed causing the driver to over-speed.
