UP: Three-year-old attacked by monkey in Vrindavan


AGRA: A three-year-old girl was injured on Wednesday after being attacked by a monkey in UP's Vrindavan area.
The girl, Pranjal Tewari, was waiting for her school van outside her house with her aunt when the incident happened. This incident comes four days after a similar attack on a local businessman by a group of monkeys.

According to Pranjal’s aunt Urmila, this was not the first time when such an incident has happened in the locality. She said she was standing with her niece outside of her house in Kailash Nagar when the monkey attacked her. She said, “The girl has been provided medical treatment, but she is now scared to get out of the house.”

On July 6, a local businessman, Nikunj Goyal, was brutally attacked by a group of monkeys when he came out of his house for some work in the morning hours. He sustained bites at several places of his body, including his back and arm. He uploaded the CCTV footage of this incident on Facebook on Monday. He said that his son was also injured after being attacked by monkeys a month ago.
Last month, on June 20, an eight-year-old boy, Yashraj Goswami, was attacked by a group of monkeys while he was playing in a park near Banke Bihari temple.
According to figures given by the district hospital, Mathura, there has been rise in number of monkey bite cases since April. Around 120 cases of monkey bite have been reported till July 10 only. Last month in June, 247 cases were reported followed by 154 in May and 62 in April.

According to chief medical superintendent (CMS) of Mathura district hospital, Dr RS Maurya, the data was reported from the entire district. “People from every corner of the district visit the hospital for administering vaccines in monkey and dog bite cases,” claimed Dr Maurya.
He said there had also been a rise in dog bite cases in the last three months. As per figures, 533 dog bite cases were reported in April, 1269 in May and 1119 in June. In July, 351 cases have been reported till now.
