VARANASI: The sleuths of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Ghazipur unit, on Tuesday seized over 3.5kg charas after arresting one person from Englishialine area in the city.
The cost of the recovered contraband in international market has been estimated at Rs 65 lakh.
According to deputy narcotics commissioner KK Singh, on getting specific inputs a team of CBN, including KK Srivastava and Deepak Sharma, raided Englishiyaline road where one person, identified as Ramesh Yadav of Muzzafarpur in Bihar, was arrested with a bag containing the consignment of charas.
The bureau officials said that during interrogation, Yadav confessed to his involvement in smuggling of narcotics. He used to procure charas from Nepal and sell it among tourists, including foreigners with the help of peddlers of his network active at ghats along the river Ganga.
