Wishing him, the prime minister said Singh is a hard- working person who, as defence minister, is working to strengthen the armed forces.

In Lok Sabha, as soon as the Question Hour ended, Speaker Om Birla wished Singh on his birthday on behalf of members.

The Speaker pointed out that Singh, who is also deputy leader of Lok Sabha, has been member of both Houses of Uttar Pradesh state legislature and both Houses of Parliament.

Singh was present in the House, occupying the front row of treasury benches.
